MIT Haiti Initiative

STEM Curriculum & Prof. Dev. in Kreyòl

Project Description

The MIT-Haiti Initiative is developing a suite of Kreyòl-based resources and leveraging technology-enhanced tools to support active learning in STEM subjects as well as training Haitian university professors and high-school teachers in the use of these resources and techniques. The project is conducting a series of faculty- and curriculum-development workshops in Haiti, working with Haitian faculty to deepen their expertise in the innovative use of digital resources for active learning in STEM, specifically in physics, biology and math, with other STEM disciplines being considered for the future. The project offers MIT faculty expertise, open educational resources (OER)  and MIT’s educational technology in order to incorporate effective pedagogical techniques and resources in Haitian Kreyòl into Haiti’s educational strategies and academic curricula.

This project is a collaboration between the MIT Department of Linguistics and Strategic Education Initiatives in the MIT Office of Digital Learning.
